Adult Summer Reading Challenge for 2020!

Our annual summer reading program has gone completely virtual this year. COVID may have changed the way we operate but it won’t take away our fun! This year’s theme is Imagine Your Story. We all have a unique story to share after the experiences of the last few months. Our hope is to get you thinking about fairy tales and far off places to get your mind off the seriousness of today’s world. We’re offering a simple escape and keeping it basic as we all learn this new way of doing things.

PRESS RELEASE

RE: Library Phased Re-Opening

Updates from the Agawam Public Library

The Agawam Public Library is pleased to be reintroducing services to our community over the next few weeks. Due to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, the library has been closed and offering limited services since March 16th. Staff members will report to the library on June 1st. We are busy planning for the re-opening of the library and preparing to deliver in-person services to the community as soon as possible. At present, we are planning to begin with curbside delivery of library materials from our collection beginning June 1st. More information will be forthcoming as soon as it becomes available.

Library book drops are currently open and available for you to return books at your convenience. All returns are being quarantined for one week before being checked in and re-shelved. There are still no fines accruing at this time. All due dates are July 1st.

In the meantime, we hope that you continue to find enjoyable and informational electronic offerings from among the many streaming services that the library subscribes to. Please see our website at www.agawamlibrary.org for full details.

Library staff members continue to respond to email, so please email us at: libstaff@agawam.ma.us with any questions or troubleshooting issues. We are able to resolve most issues quickly, and are happy to help if you experience any difficulties using our electronic resources.

We can’t wait to get started and begin this next phase of library services. We miss our patrons and look forward to seeing you all again very soon! Stay tuned to our social media outlets for daily updates and information. Please contact the Agawam Library with any and all questions regarding library services during the shutdown. RE: Library Phased Re-Opening

Updates from the Agawam Public Library

We hope that this latest update on the Agawam Public Library finds everyone healthy and coping with these challenging times. We recently learned that the date for staff to return to the library has been changed to June 1st. This is due in large part to the Governor’s phased re-opening plan for the state, which will be released on Monday, May 18th.

Staff members are busy planning for the re-opening of the library and preparing to deliver in-person services to the community as soon as possible. At present, we are planning to begin with curbside delivery of library materials from our collection. We will be releasing more information as soon as it becomes available. We need to prepare the interior of the library for fewer patrons in the building at any one time and other social distancing measures.

Library book drops are currently open and available for you to return books at your convenience. All returns are being quarantined for one week before being checked in and re-shelved.

In the meantime, we hope that you continue to find enjoyable and informational electronic offerings from among the many streaming services that the library subscribes to. Please see our website at www.agawamlibrary.org for full details.
